Hey! Very excited to tell you all this, but I found my first bone! And oh gosh, I nearly fainted when the lead paleontologist confirmed that what I was looking at was a real, physical bone!

As of right now, it isn't all the way out of the ground. Oh, no. There is so much left to be done, we barely managed to get the bone locked into the GPS before it started to get too hot to work at all. I'm almost literally bouncing as I write this, my hands are shaking from just how excited I am! I can't wait to get back out there tomorrow. I wonder what it could be. A femur? A piece of pelvis? Maybe even a chunk of skull?

The possibilities are endless, I didn't get much of it uncovered to begin with. I feel so giddy - like a child waiting for Christmas morning. I want to go to bed to make time fly faster, but I know I won't be able to sleep! I'm not even hungry or thirsty, all I can think about is that pertified bone! I'm going to be able to handle a real, honest to everything dinosaur bone. How many 22 year olds can say that? Hell, how many people can say they've even found one? I am so amazed, and so, so grateful to even have had an opportunity like this to begin with. I think I've thanked the professor upwards of 100 times.

Gosh.

This is real, you guys. This is so real and I still can't believe it.

🦖!
