Okay. I have SO much to say, and so little time to say it.
First of all, I never knew how freaking hot it could get on these digs. I nearly passed out from heatstroke - twice! Luckily, though, the upperclassmen are really nice and they keep looking out for me. It's a lot more grueling than you think it'd be, and I'll admit I was less than prepared for the first week of work. We get up at the crack of dawn every single day and work until we're literally coated in dust (which surprisingly helps with the heat, believe it or not). I have a blister on every bone in my body!
Despite this, I am having the time of my life. I've dreamt about this for years, and a little heat and broken skin isn't going to stop me.
We haven't found much of anything yet, just a bit of fragments, which isn't that big of a deal. I know finding things takes a lot of time and effort, much longer than a week's work. Even my crew mates say so, they wanted to make sure the lack of bones wasn't discouraging me. (It's not!) Speaking of the crew, they're all so nice and helpful. It's so amazing; after we're done for the day we'll sit around a campfire and they'll tell me about their more exciting expeditions and I sit there, so full of awe. I think they quite like having me around because of how easy I am to impress!
Can anyone blame me, though? :)
I'm so tired, it's been such a long, wonderful day. I'm gonna catch some rest, see you!
🦖!
